The reason for the blog

As you already know, my mom Susan was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It goes without saying then that we all have a challenging year ahead of us. We are only at the very beginning of this journey and have already been overwhelmed by the response from all of you- our family and friends! In an effort to keep you informed on the status of Susan's health, we've decided to create this blog that the family will periodically update.

On Monday, January 28th, my mom will undergo a masectomy. During the surgery, the doctor will examine her lymph nodes to see if the cancer has spread beyond the breast. If the first of the lymph nodes (called the Sentinel) is infected, the surgeron will remove all the lymph nodes. After the surgery, Susan will see an Oncologist to discuss a chemotherapy plan. Obviously our prayer at this point is that the cancer hasn't already spread and that chemo may be avoided.

We have no idea what the next few days may hold, let alone the next year. But regardless, we know our God has lovingly appointed this cup for our family and will shower us with the grace to endure.

Thank you for every prayer you take before the King on our behalf.

-Becky

Sarah and Becky,
John and I will be praying specifically for the surgeon and your mom on Monday and then continue to pray for all of you, knowing that God's grace is sufficient and He is faithful.
I love you,
Ruthie

We are praying for your family! May God uphold you and give you strength, peace and hope for the days ahead! May His name be glorified. Let us know if there are ways we can help. We know all too well this journey that you are about to embark on and we were blessed by those who encouraged and walked along side of us. With love, Jake and Brenda Long
